Environmental Policy

Since we were founded in 1969 we built up considerable experience in recycling, and using recycled products.

Paper
The printed product has on average approximately 30-40% of paper as the main cost, so it seemed logical to look at this item first.

We were one of the first companies to experiment with and use environmentally friendly and post consumer waste paper and have built up considerable experience in their use.

All our waste paper is collected and recycled, with any redundant stock sent free to the ‘Scrap Store’ to be used in schools etc.

In November 2008 Doveton Press Ltd became successful in gaining membership of a certified FSC group chain of custody scheme as well as PEFC group chain of custody scheme.

Chain of custody certification provides independent evidence that forest products originate from well-managed forests. By obtaining Chain of Custody certification Doveton Press Ltd can demonstrate its commitment economically, environmentally and socially to responsible forestry.

Energy and Labour
Energy and Labour are our second largest cost, we continually update equipment to be as energy efficient as possible, recirculating the heat from the printing presses to warm the factory. Our oldest press is under 3 years old. We run the presses 12 hours per day, 6 days per week with two printers per press working 3 days on and 4 days off shifts. This enables staff to travel to work at less congested times and cut down on the number of journeys.

Inks and chemicals
We recycle all old inks and ink tins. We only use vegetable based inks.

We were the first company in Bristol to use a computer to plate system and have built up vast experience in this field. No film and related chemicals are used at all and all the aluminium plates are recycled.
